We weren't alone when we feel head-over-heels in love with this Amy Winehouse-inspired beehive created by MODERN Facebook fan Rikki Hudson.
Hudson is a former fine arts major from Detroit, Michigan, who has won awards over the years for herceramic work, photography, painting and drawing. "I found my true passion in being a professional hairstylist," she says. Currently a stylist at Bruno Salon in Southfield, Michigan, Hudson is also clearly inspired by the world of music---having created this voluminous finish that got thousands of likes on our Facebook--inspired by the late Amy Winehouse.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: These steps are pretty tricky--and we don't have an image for each and every single step. But, this was one of our most in-demand tutorials, so we did the best we could. Our advice is to really take a look at the final images...this will help with the braid placement confusion. Best of luck to you in recreating this Winehouse-inspired look!

On second-day hair, begin by taking five sections around the crown to backcomb. This is where the beehive shape will form. Start with the section in the middle, and then create four surrounding it. Backcomb each section from scalp to ends. |

Roll the sections toward the apex of the head pin-curl style and secure with a bobby pin. |

Take half-inch sections of hair that surrounds the beehive shape, and use this hair to smooth over the backcombing, still leaving some hair around hairline. Pin the ends of the smoothed hair at the base of the beehive. |

Backcomb a two-inch wide and a 1/2-inch thick piece of braiding hair and pin in place around the base of the beehive. This will be used to bulk up the final braids--not to be shown. Here's where it gets tricky. But try to use the final images to help clarify the braiding placement. Take two 6-inch tracks of extensions folded into thirds, to make two 2-inch-wide strands and pin over the braiding hair in the middle back at the base of the beehive with the tracks touching each other. Braid the strands of extensions both into 5-strand pleates all the way to the very ends. |

Next, Hudson said she pinned the pleates securely on top of the braiding hair, making sure to cover all of the braiding hair. |
Finish by pinning the end of the second pleate over the end of the first one as far down as you can and use a firm hold hairspray to keep the ends down as neatly as possible and if you took your braid far enough to the ends of the strand you should be able to blend the end of the second pleate over the top of the first without seeing the ends.
"Be creative with the hair you left out around the hairline, Hudson says. "I left my two-day old curls in the ends in true Winehouse fashion and used my flatiron only to shape a few peices that werent exactly where I wanted them to be."
