Famous for his editorial covers and runway work, Oribe is no stranger to textured hair. Whether it’s by wielding an iron or using his shears, he is a master of creating new forms and patterns from hair. Here, he creates from a hair piece.

1. Place hair piece on mannequin and blow dry the hair to desired texture—in this case smooth.
2. To shape, pull ½ sections out and texturize with a razor.
3. Using a curling iron, create invisible curls throughout the hairpiece. All are wrapped back and away from the front. Allow to cool.
4. Direct the bulk of the hair at the crown, place in a ponytail and pin in place.
5. Place the piece over the ponytail and secure to the head.
6. Direct strands where desired and pin in place.
7. Using fingers, lift sections to release curl and texture.
8. Using gel in the fingertips, place on the ends and pull out.
