Rita Arutyunova of New York's Salon AKS has handled the hands and feet of some of the top A listers in or visiting NYC. As a top manicurist, she is in high demand with celebrities, socialites and editors.

I haven't had a pedicure in about 20 years. As a very "ticklish" person, I have learned to avoid this wonderful service to spare both the artist and anyone else within hearing distance. However, I had a bit of a "situation". This is a big weekend in the industry (NAHA, City of Hope and Cosmoprof). My own DIY pedicure was a disaster and I was running out of time.

CND to the rescue. Red, the PR agency representing CND, called Salon AKS to find time in Rita's busy schedule to squeeze in the desperate. Fortunately it was in a private room and at a slower time in the salon.

"Your nails are very short," said Rita as she scanned my toes. "Yes," I answered. "Since I do this myself, I keep them short so that I don't have to do them so often." Clearly I have a system....and that system includes totally covering my toenails in polish and hope for the best.

"I believe Shellac is the future of nail care," she says. "It just makes so much sense. It dries instantly, stays shinier and lasts longer. I am a big fan of the service."  Me too!
