R + Co, the new line of styling products founded by Garren, Thom Priano and Howard McLaren, is making a tour of the United States. MODERN was in Boston last night as McLaren performed on stage for 200 attendees. The program, called "The Culture of Hairdressing", was the unveiling of the products as well as a demonstration for the suggested use of the products through the eyes of McLaren, a top editorial stylist and educator. "Education is the basis of everything we do," says McLaren. "If brands compete against us, you know who wins? YOU!" In addition to performing a cut and several finishes on stage, McLaren shared info about his own journey as a stylist in Scotland prior to coming to the United States. He also shared his experiences in both New York and Los Angeles before developing R + Co with Garren and Priano. "We developed this line based on what we needed," he says. "These are the products we came up with after searching through our own bags."

There are 22 SKU's in the line with some of the finest packaging and most fun names in the industry such as "Dallas" (for thickening), "Moon" (for shine), "Jackpot", "Aircraft", "Outer Space", "Park Ave", "Conformist" and "Tinsel" among others. The next stop on the tour will be in Dallas on Nov. 2.

Highlights:

-Four models were transformed on stage.

- Smith and Cult, the new nail shade line, was presented at the event and each attendee was gifted a special shade.

-Each attendee was gifted R + Co "Death Valley" Dry Shampoo.

-MindBody Salon Software presented and gifted a mini IPAD to a lucky winner, drawn at the end of the event (the winner was Erin Morris of Citizen Salon of Athens, Georgia)
