Gerard Caruso, Artistic Director for Rusk, has created a new cutting technique to create beachy waves. "The key is sectioning," he told Modern Salon Media while backstage prepping for the most recent Premiere Show in Orlando, Florida. "First I create a football shape section along the top from the front to below the crown and then subdivide in to 4 additional sections which I secure gently at the base with rubber bands. Each section is cut from mid point out using a Rusk Gamma 35 tooth texturizing shear. The front two sections are cut forward and the back two are cut back." Once released, the resulting waves cascade down to the lengths allowing for fresh and versatile movement. "It's a perfect and modern texture," says Caruso. "It can be left as is, or bulked up with foam, scrunching or blow drying. It is the ideal shape for today's looks."
