FASHION: International Flair

Behind the scenes at the Prada Resort show in New York last month, MODERN chatted with international style star and Redken Creative Consultant Guido. Born and raised in Dorset, England, Guido travels around the world to create looks for fashion shows, editorial spreads and advertisements. His creative styles were perfect with Prada's elegant fashions.

The show, which took place at the Prada Showroom in NYC, featured 24 models who Guido and his team of 15 stylists created exciting updos.

"I wanted to do something stronger and more mature than a ponytail," says Guido. "It's Prada! The fashion has lots of ties and details. We decided to do a sophisticated 1950s ‘Palm Beach' updo-something very Kim Novak, very Hitchcock."

The hair was first rough dried with Redken Thickening Lotion for a thick, matte foundation followed by heavy back brushing. Surface strands were then smoothed to a pleat at the back. The nape was left flat with more oomph along the occipital and at the crown. "It's okay to see the teasing and pins," says Guido. "It's very undone and messy by design."

"One of the most important ingredients is Forceful 23," says Guido, as a member of his team puts the finishing touch on a model. "This look requires power hold."
