Jesse Gaines (@jessegaines) co-owner of Moss Hair Studio in Eugene, Oregon, is also a national educator with Hattori Hanzo Shears. Gaines specializes in cutting classes in men's hair, woman's short hair, and creative cutting and color.
Crystal has been a friend and client for many years. "She was going to be trying out for roller derby so we started discussing her image," says Gaines. "We decided to use the girl from the 5th element as our inspiration for her hair." Crystal is a natural level 7 with ends bleached out a touch from the sun. Desired result: beautiful pure orange.
Step 1: Pre- lighten hair with Davines Bleach with 10 volume. Apply roots to ends in 1/2 inch sections.
Step 2: Lift to a pale yellow with a touch of gold. ("It was important to have a quick application for even results.") Shampoo and dry thoroughly.
Step 3: Apply Davines Pure Colour Orange with 1 part Cream Base 1 part activator (5 volume developer).
Step 4: Process for 30-40 minutes. ("This is unique color line because it is a permanent amonia free fashion color, not a stain or a direct dye.")
