"Claire came to me 6 months prior to fix a design done at another salon," says Lily Duong (@hairbylily408), a L'Oreal Certified balayage artist, based at Hair By Lily at Salons by JC in San Jose, California. "She came in with uneven blotchy roots and brassy ends. That day I told her I couldn't do much but try to diffuse the line with some balayage and tone out some of the brass." Fast forward to this appointment 4 months later. "This time she decided she missed having dark hair. I agreed. It was a good idea to give her hair a break."

Formula:
A: Highlights - Redken Flashlift +40 volume
B: Lowlites - Redken Shades EQ 4N+6nb + Processing solution
C: Gloss: 1) Kenra 6b+5N +9vol roots
           2) Kenra 6b+7b+7vol mids to ends

Steps:

Step 1: Section head into 3 areas, ear to ear and back.
Step 2: Starting in the back, weave medium to thin highlights and apply formula A in balayage technique. Do not saturate through ends.
Step 3: Apply weaved lowlites (formula B) in every other section. Continue throughout the hair using this technique.
Step 4: Process at room temperature to desired level (in this case 45 minutes). Shampoo and towel dry.
Step 5: At the bowl apply gloss formula 1 for 10 minutes, then apply formula 2 for an additional 10 minutes. Rinse and condition.
