While scrolling through our Instagram feed, we paused at the "before" image and gasped in terror (only slightly exaggerating). Reposted on Olaplex's Instagram page, this black-and-blonde mess stared at us through the screen. It was next to a radiant white-blonde, sleek, face-framing look. This couldn't be the same client, or could it?
"Our client had build-up color from before as a result of doing at-home colors," said Joan Dellavalle, owner of Ebony and Ivory Hair and Beauty (@ebonyandivoryhairbeauty) in Perth, Australia. "This was not an easy color fix to do."
Stylist Tomomi and Dellavalle were wanted to give their Asian-haired client a clean, platinum blonde color without damaging the integrity of her hair.
"Asian hair is not easy to get a nice, clean blonde, so baby steps had to be taken," Dellavalle said. "With the help of adding Olaplex to our work, this was possible."
The process will take a total of three separate appointments. The "after" photo shown is after only her second.
"Full-head of back-to-back foils were done on the client using Wella roots 30vol, ends 40vol with Olaplex hair left in between then freehanded with 10vol. One more appointment to go and we'll be where we want her hair to be!"
