Although we usually do not post "selfies", this fantastic post by Heidi Marie Garrett (@heidimariegarrett) just had to be shared. When we tracked her down for more info, she adds that she was thrilled with how well the Matrix color stayed. "It lasted several washes," she says. "I'm impressed."
Here she offers the formula for her plum/viiolet shade:
Says Garrett "I'm in love with this plum purple. It's not blue at all. It has just the right hint of pink/warmth (which my skin tone needs badly). It's the kind of purple I've been wanting for a long time...saturated but not screaming vibrant. I was scared when the color was in the bowl because it looked reddish brown, but I tested it on a piece of white paper and it turned into a beautiful plum. I knew it would be good." Here Garrett shares the HOW TO:
Step 1: Bleach the new growth with Wella Blondor and 20 volume developer, overlapping bands. Lift to a level 8.
Step 2: Shampoo with a purple shampoo (Garrett used AG Hair). This is used in place of a toner.
Step 3: Using Matrix Color Graphics Lacquer, blend 1 tube of Violet and 1/4 tube Magenta. Do not dilute the color.
Step 4: Apply the shade to the new the bleach new growth only. Do NOT pull through.
Step 5: Process for a minimum of 30 minutes. Adds Garrett: "Heat may be used for additional staining."
Step 6: Carefully wash out the color, not allowing the water to sit on the ends. Just allow the color to wash over the tips to stain. ("This is how to make it look ombre," says Garrett.)
