Chelsea Caruso (@chelseacaruso), an artist at Gerber Salon, Keyport, NJ, had an opportunity to execute her color sweeping technique on Alyssa and execute she did! Says Caruso about balayage, "Steep, long strokes and saturated strands lead to ultimate bold and lightened results, the lighter the highlight result, the more vibrant the tone will take once applied."

Here she offers the HOW TO for this "Sweeping Red" finish:

Step 1: Deepen and enrich base color using Wella Illumina: 1oz 5/81 1/2 4/ with equal parts 6 volume developer. Apply in 1/2 inch sections using wide strokes to cover area and to achieve a serious "rooty" look.

Step 2: Using a classic balayage technique, apply Artego Balayage Lightener and 40 volume developer in steep, long strokes, saturating strands.

Step 3: Process for 40 minutes, lifting to  level 9. Shampoo with Wella Brilliance Shampoo and towel dry thoroughly.

Step 4: Apply Pravana Red from roots to ends.

Step 5: Process for 40 minutes at room temperature. Rinse from the hair. Condition and treat with Bumble and bumble, Color Minded Protreatment for 10 minutes.
