Although Shawn Scheepers (@shawnscheepers) of HairSoda, North Vancouver, BC Canada spends a lot of time doing "fun edgy haircuts along with exciting colors and short edgy female cuts," the artist also loves "doing balayage highlights and big transformations."

Well, Scheepers got the opportunity to TRANSFORM on client Marianne who was looking to go Light and Bright on her hair that had a virgin base with some existing color through the ends. "I used a handful of different products to achieve our look," says Scheepers. "Her ends were very damaged so I used Olaplex with our bleach to help maintain the integrity of her hair."

Here Scheepers shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Lift base with Wella’s Blonder bleach with 30vol and Olaplex number 1 about 1 inch away from the scalp to prevent hot roots.

Step 2: At root, apply Joico's Vero Cream bleach and 20vol along with Olaplex number 1.

Step 3: Reapply bleach to selected small sections to frame the face "so it would be lighter and a few strands throughout the middle of her hair."

Step 4: Continue to reapply the bleach and 30vol a few times over the ends to get it to lift appropriately.

Step 5: Once processed, shampoo and dry the hair.

Step 6: Apply Joico Vero TSB and a drop of Titanium colour intensity  with Vero Glaze to tone out any warmth in the hair.

Step 7: Rinse the hair and apply Olaplex’s number 2 application.

Step 8: Process for 15 minutes and then rinse. Shampoo with Kevin Murphy Born Again Wash cocktailed with Hydrate Me Wash. Condition the hair with Kevin Murphy Hydrate me Masque, processing for 10 minutes.

NOTES FROM SCHEEPERS:

"The total service took just over 8 hours as I wasn’t in any rush to speed up the process. My main goal was to protect Marianne's hair as much as possible and her hair felt amazing afterwards. She has extremely thick hair and I had to take small sections of hair for each process to maintain consistent coverage. I tend to cocktail a lot of products to achieve customized results."
