It can be confusing...but also quite exciting. One of your favorite clients walks in with gorgeous color (that YOU created) and wants something very different.

"Krissy likes to change her hair all the time," says Jessy Hayes (@hair_by_jessy), based at Dimensions Salon, Temecula, California.  "The very first time she came to me she had all over platinum blonde hair but it was grown out. I 'ombred' it with a faux root." The result was gorgeous, as shown in the before shot. "I was kinda sad she wanted to go red because i loved her blonde color."

But this did not stop Hayes from mixing up a juicy shade that would do the trick.  "Krissy is a natural level 7. We wanted to keep that balayage effect with the red so I used the same formula for roots and ends."

Here she offers the HOW TO:

Step 1: Fill the hair. Apply Redken Shades EQ 06r06wg from root to end in 1/2 inch sections.

Step 2: Process for 20 minutes and then rinse and towel dry.

Step 3:  Blend Schwarzkopf Igora Royal 1part 5-88, 1part 6-88, 2 inch ribbon of 0-88 and 15 volume developer.

Step 4: Apply first to the lightened ombré.

Step 5: Process for 10 minutes then apply the same formula to the regrowth.

Step 6: Process for an additional 25 minutes at room temperature.  Shampoo.

Step 7: Apply a conditioning glaze with 1 part conditioner and 1 part Joico Color Intensity Red.

Step 8: Process for 10 minutes at the bowl and then rinse.
