Hollie Jacques, an artist at Lux Salon in Stockton, California, says that this client has colored her hair with a box blue black 2 years prior to her visit. "She had 12 inches of new growth, natural level 1," says Jacques. "Her goal is to have a platinum ombré, but we are proceeding with caution. For this first session, my goal was to get her to a level 6 ash brown."

Here Jacques offers the HOW TO:

Step 1: Separate the hair into 4 quadrants. Start at the nape of the neck. Take 1 inch subsections and prepare to apply in deep V balayage technique up the hair shaft (saturating the mid section and ends) using Matrix Lightmaster with Olaplex and 20 volume developer. Separate sections with plastic wrap to keep the product from drying out. Continue to the crown.

Step 2: Use the same technique the front quadrants, only bump up to 30 volume developer.

Step 3: Process for 55 minutes at room temperature. Shampoo and towel dry.

Step 4: Gloss with 1/4 oz each of the following: 7.22, 6.11, 5N, and Ash Blue additive with Zero Lift from Pravana.  Process for 20 minutes. Rinse.

Step 5: Finish with a healthy trim and layer restructuring.  Apply It's a 10, Kenra, and Sexy Hair styling products and shape with a 1 1/2 inch Hot Tools iron.
