Marjorie Nazareno (@Marjoriethehairstylist) an artist at LUX Salon, Stockton, California, had a challenge. "My client came as a level 7 at one point and slowly went darker from light golden brown to a chocolate brown color." In between visits, the client was using box color on her hair. "The before picture shows the dark color level 4 from 7 months ago. Slowly it had faded but was still dark, but my client wanted to go lighter for the summer. She was going for a brown with a hint of gold."

This transformation took 4-5 hours. "It was definitely a process due to her previous box dyes and also the dark color we had put prior to her current appointment."

Here Nazareno shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Strip hair using Redken Flashlight bleach with 30 volume and a few pumps of shampoo. Apply from two inches off root to ends. Process for 45 minutes. Do not rinse.

Step 2: Apply the same formula to the roots. Process for an additional 20 minutes and then shampoo and dry the hair.

Step 3: To the root area apply Rusk 50% of 5N and 25% of 5G and 25% of 6G. Blend with Olaplex.

Step 4: To the midshaft to ends apply Rusk 50% of 6N, 30% of 6G, and 20% of 5G. Blend with Olaplex.

Step 5: Process for 40 minutes. Shampoo and rinse.

Step 6: Gloss with Redken Shades EQ 5G for 15 minutes. Rinse.

Step 7: Apply Olaplex #2 for 10 minutes and then shampoo.

Step 8: Finish with a cut and style with a 1 1/2 BabylissPro titanium curling iron. Hair is prepped with Kenra Heat Protectant, Kenra Hairspray, and Kenra Shine Spray and oil on her ends.
