Melanie Bell (@smelaniebell) of Bell Studio, Atlanta, says "I have been cutting my client Hannah's hair since she was four, now she's fifteen and she is becoming quite a trendsetter! We had done a previous ombré with Pravana custom blues several months back and now she wanted to try silver platinum. After looking through pictures and talking to her about maintaining on the scalp lightener, we decided to go with a light granite base and silver balayage highlights, which would be easier to maintain but still get the effect she was looking for."

Here Bell shares the HOW TO for this look that we believe will work for trend setting client:

STEP 1: Shampoo and apply at the bowl on level 6 and up ( client is a level 7) Redken Blonde Idol Cool and 10 volume. "I used the Blonde Idol Cool for  for a bit more lift at the root to mid shaft." Process for 10 minutes then shampoo and towel dry
STEP 2: Blend 2 formulas: Formula A: Shades EQ 1oz 8t 1/2 oz 9b 1/2 6b and 2 oz of processing solution (light granite). Formula B: Shades EQ  1oz 9t 1oz of clear and 2oz of processing solution (light titanium).
STEP 3: Apply Formula A from root to mid shaft and the apply Formula B from mid shaft "to ends to get a gradient silver color and so the porous ends do not grab the color." Process for 7 minutes. Shampoo, condition blow dry.
STEP 4: Balayage throughout using Redken Powerlift with 30 volume (adding Olaplex to become a 20 volume).  Apply from root to mid shaft.
STEP 5: Blend Redken Up To 7 and 10 volume (adding Olaplex to become a 5 volume). Apply only where necessary for yellowing making sure to avoid the ends. Process according to manufacturers directions. Rinse and towel dry.
STEP 6: Tone with Shades EQ: 1 3/4 oz 000 Clear and 1/4 oz 9T. Process for 7 minutes then rinse and towel dry. Apply Olaplex #2 and process fo 10 minutes. Shampoo, condition and style.
