Lily Duong (@Hairbylily408) from Hair by Lily at Salons by JC, San Jose, California, met with a new client that needed some color magic. "She had gone to a stylist that overly processed her hair on top with pale blond highlights," says Duong. "She asked for an ombré so the stylist took her whole bottom layer of hair and slapped bleached on it. Her hair was left orange and brassy."

Duong jumped in to reverse the color design to get it right. Here she offers the HOW TO:

Formula

1) Base: 4A + 4n + 10 vol- 30 mins Joico
2) Highlights : Redken Flash lift + 30vol - 45 mins
3) Lowlights : 6G+ 6n + color activator - Joico
4) Toner : 7gb+ 7ICE+ 5vol (Beth Minardi)
Olaplex.

Step 1: Shadow the root with base formula 1.  Process for 30 minutes. Shampoo the hair.

Step 2: Apply formula 3 to break up brassy orange ends.

Step 3: Apply highlights (formula 2) in V shape to connect previous highlights. Process for 45 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Step 4: Tone with formula 4 and apply Olaplex #2.

Step 5: Shampoo and condition the hair.
