Susie Pham (@hairbysusiepham), a freelance artist based in San Jose, California, had fun with a first time client. "She found me on Instagram and booked the appointment," says Pham. "She wanted a dimensional subtle brown shade on her dark brown virgin hair with light, reddish ends. She had not colored her hair for a very long time after years of bleached highlights. She was looking for a healthy outcome."
Here Pham shares the HOW TO:
Step 1: Balayage her hair with 20 volume starting in the front and sides, then switch to 30 volume in the back. Blend with 40 volume for the top layers.
Step 2: Process in plastic wrap for 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.
Step 3: Tone with Schwarzkopf Igora (2 part 7/65 + 1 part 7/55 + 10 volume ). Process for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Finish with lose curls using 1 1/5 curling iron and loosen up with fingers.
