Andrea Lents (@andreanicolestylist), an artist at Aria Salon, Chicago, posted this rose gold transformation and we ased for more information. "The color that I did was sooo much fun," she says. "I have been seeing all these photos of rose gold, and I have been experimenting with getting my formula just right. The color line that I use is Joico and I also used Wella Blondor and Pravana Vivids."  The client is a level 6/7 and had existing red and balayage highlights on her hair.

Lents shares the HOW TO:

Formula A - Wella Blondor with 40V + Olaplex No. 1
Formula B- Joico 3/4oz 9RG + 1/4oz 5RM + 1/2 10V and 1/2 20V (I knew that it was going to take me a little longer to apply the color because I didn't want my messy hands or stray hair strands to get the color on pieces that shouldn't have color. I mixed the 10 and 20 because I didn't want it to get too dark using the 10 but I didn't want to use 20 and have it look too opaque. So I played it safe and mixed the 2 together and prayed!)
Formula C- Pravana Vivids 3/4 Clear + 1/4 Magenta

Step 1: Prelighten with formula A, leaving out her new growth. "She lifted to a very beautiful orange color and had a hint of pink/red to it, which worked out in my favor."

Step 2: Process for 15 minutes and then lighten the new growth with Wella Blondor with 30 Volume. "Her natural hair level is a very stubborn 6/7."

Step 3: Process for an additional 15/20 minutes. Rinse and apply Olaplex No. 2 and process for 10 minutes. Shampoo, condition and dry the hair.

Step 4: Carefully apply Formula B to the base, starting in the back and moving up to the front. "I alternated applying it about 2 to 3 1/2 inches and took my fingers and blended the color down through the midshaft of the hair so there weren't any defined lines. The color was more dominant at the base of the hair and when I pulled it down. It wasn't as saturated so the color blended perfectly from that bright rose gold color to a more subtle color on the midshaft and left out the ends. Some pieces I left out more of the blonde than others. There were some pieces (not a lot) that I pulled formula B through the ends. I didn't want her to look like she had a complete ombre."

Step 5: Randomly apply Formula C to some of the ends. "I thought it would help to add a little zest of color."

Step 6: Process for 15-20 minutes and then shampoo and condition with Wella Brilliance. Finish with the following UNITE products: 7 seconds, Argan Oil, Boosta Spray and Blow and Set. Curl with TYME straightener/curling tool and for the shorter pieces curl with a CHI flat Iron.
