Renee Zamastil (@reneeMstylist) has a "Special place in my heart for short hair." Based at Salon Coccole, Lake Zurich, IL., Zamastil gives a special shout out to her mentor and salon owner Donna Gentile. The color for this finish is by Kathleen Kotsiovos (@kathcoccolecolorist) also based at Salon Coccole.

Here Zamastil offers the details for this adorable short and chic finish we found on her instagram page:

CUT:

"We transitioned Amber from a graduated bob into an edgy textured pixie with a long fringe," says Zamastil. "We wanted to expose her delicate features that were obscured by her dense naturally wavy hair. She's now cut into a short layer with the rounds sections out and blended visually after it has been dried. The beauty of the cut is versatility in the styling. Her cut can be worn parted on either side for an asymetrical look, or pushed up into a sassy pompadour."

COLOR:

"When working on Amber's hair I envisioned a beautiful color that would help give her haircut not only the movement but also the dimension that it deserved," says Kotsiovos. "I began with a heavy highlight. No more than one inch sections and large sized weaves. I made sure not to take fine weaves because I didn't want her color to look solid."

Kotsiovos shares the following HOW TO:

Highlights: Wella Blondor with 20 volume developer

Balayage in between foils: Wella Blondor with 40 volume developer

Process for 25 minutes

After that Kotsiovos broke her base (or base bumped) with:

1001 Keune High Lift with 10 volume.

Application: Apply to  damp hair and process for 10 minutes.

"By breaking Amber's base," says Kotsiovos, "it made the color flow a lot better and brought out those lighter pieces."

Shampoo with Keune Silver Reflex Shampoo to cut out any unwanted yellow tones.
