November is right around the corner, and National Healthy Skin Month is a wonderful excuse to take an extra-close look at your day-to-day skincare regimen. The largest organ of your body helps keep all your other body parts running at full capacity and is a big player in maintaining your immune system, according to the American Skin Association. 

"The most important part of National Healthy Skin Month is the reminder of the necessity for routine screening," says Dr. Sanjiv Saini of MD Dermatology. "Early detection and treatment is essential. If you see anything suspicious, make an appointment with a dermatologist immediately."

Even without a trip to your skin doc, there are measures you can take to keep your skin at its best and some things you should definitely avoid at all costs.
