Penny Fair (@penny_theyoungamerican) of The Young American Salon, Old Town Tustin, California says that long time client Miya, a musician, had to get her hair done at a different salon when Fair was unavailable.  "Unfortunately she hated the cut and color she received. I squeezed her in before her South by Southwest festival performance. I talked her into doing something she wasn't initially confident in trying, but eventually she gave me the green light."

Here Fair shares the how to:

Step 1: Apply Schwarzkopf Blondme bleach with 25 volume, with heat for 25 minutes, lifting her from a natural level 4, to a level 11 with a bit of warmth.

Step 2: Apply Redken Shades 9B with a bit of Clear to tone the warmth and bring her to a silvery blonde. Process for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Cut with a size 8 clipper to get all her bulk cut off.

Step 4: Then texturize to soften and keep that feminine touch, especially for the grow out. Use a neck trimmer to open up her hairline around her forehead to give her a stronger fringe.
