Isaac Roberts (@isaac4mayor), owner of Isaac Roberts Salon, San Diego, CA, had quite a challenge with his new client who found him on Instagram. "Unsure of what she wanted, I was shown pearl blonde, lavender and silver finishes. I decided to offer her a mix of all three since I thought that would be rowdy enough, gain her trust, and satisfy a bit of all three images she had shown me. She didn't want something she had to touch up frequently, so I went with a rooty look. Also, she feared being too violet, or too blonde, so I melted a darker violet into a muted violet silver into a light pearly blonde. It made sense to me and she was into it. So we got right to it."

Here Roberts shares the HOW TO for this transformation that took 3.5 hours:

Step 1: Blend 75g Joico lightener + 150g 25vol + 5/8ml  B3 Brazilian Bond Builder. Apply from end of regrowth through the ends separating the sections with Embee Meche to prevent heat transfer. Process for 25 minutes llifting to pale yellow. Shampoo.

Step 2: Tone using Redken Shades EQ 1oz 9v + 2oz Shades developer + 1oz Shades Clear. Process for 10 minutes and then rinse. Towel dry.

Step 3: Apply 30g Kenra 7vm demi + 5g Wella Color Touch 3 6/8 + 70g 1.9vol to 3-5 inches away from the scalp.

Step 4: Color melt 30g Kenra 7vm demi + 60g 6vol from the root shade to the mid shaft leaving out much of the ends.

Step 5: Finally cover the remainder of the hair using 15g Wella Color Touch 10/89 + 30g 6vol. Process for 20 minutes.

Step 6: Wash and condition with Alterna Caviar shampoo and conditioner.
