Flawless cuts embrace movement and stunning color plays with light. Charles Robinson, owner of Hair by Charles and Co. in Louisville, Kentucky, drew inspiration from the dreamy movements and bioluminescence of jellyfish to create looks that move and shine with modern elegance.

“Some of Vidal Sassoon's contemporary classic haircuts had that dome type shape like jellyfish, with nice beveled edges and beautiful shapes,” Robinson says. “The colors were inspired by jellyfish I had seen. The beautiful melting of yellow blurring into a red orange. The illumination of a deep blue melting into a neon blue. The magenta hazing into a pastel pink.”

Robinson attached fiber optic strands to the hair to mimic the tentacles of jellyfish. As the models toss their hair, his finely-executed cuts maintain their shapes and fall back into place, while the fiber optics leave lingering lines of light around the hair. The shine of the fiber optic strands blends smoothly into the lighter pieces of color in the hair. The effect is hair that moves with the softness of underwater motion and the luminosity of a sparkler at night.
