THE EVENT:

Alfaparf Milano S4U styling/finishing line and Op Couture Collection debuts in United States. THE VENUE: Terminal 5 club, New York City.

THE DETAILS: More than 600 salon professionals packed the Terminal 5 club to watch International Creative Director Richard Thompson and London's Mahogany Hairdressing Team use the new S4U (Style for You) product line to create high-fashion finishes from the Op Couture Collection. According to Thompson, "Optical artists start with a line and repeat shapes within. Hairdressers start with a line and repeat straight lines around round objects. In hair, the insertion of color within shapes creates dynamic movement."

THE BUZZ: Alfaparf North American Creative Directors Teri and Damiano Guardino offered: "S4U is ideal for everything from technical to freestyle work. By merging this line with Mahogany inspiration, you get high-end couture hair."

THE LAST WORD: "It was great to see more than 600 stylists, sales consultants and distributor principals coming to NYC from as far as Colorado in a tough economic climate, to advance their education," says Joe Santy of Dennis Bernard, Inc. "Who says passion isn't thriving in the beauty industry? It speaks volumes for Geppi, owner of Pierre Marco, the sponsoring distributor, and Alfaparf for a job well done."

"Fanned Out" mimics the season's flared skirts and sleeves, with its tight center and mobile ends. Baby-blonde shades fan out from a pivot point at the crown.

"Glove Fit," the third interpretation in the Op Couture Collection, mimics the cigarette pant and pencil skirt, in how it follows natural contours and curves. It's easy to imagine the versatility.

Alfaparf Milano's Evolution of the Color, a unique plant-derived, permanent hair color line, goes high fashion, mixed in a 1:2 ratio. This cut allows a natural-looking underlayer.
