American Crew All-Star Finalists: Meet Anitha Skov from Denmark

UPDATE 5.16.14:  Out of 1100 entries to the American Crew All-Star Challenge, a men’s styling and photo shoot competition, only 14 stylists were chosen to compete for the global title.  They came to Lisbon, Portugal for two days of photo shoots with American Crew founder and photographer, David Raccuglia to realize their vision. Jerome Kantner of Germany was crowned the All-Star Global Champion on April 28, 2014.

The final photo that was created in Lisbon is the first displayed here while the second photo was the winning country entry and the image that secured the stylists a place in the global challenge.  Brief interviews were conducted at the photo studio.

Meet Denmark's Country Winner and competitor, Anitha Skov:

On a photo shoot with people from all over the world, speaking a variety of languages, it was important for Anitha Skov that she and her model understand each other.

“I had a clear idea of the mood I was setting. I saw a guy who was just coming home from a party, loosening his tie, and his hair is a bit messy. He was at this party, it has been a long night, but he has seen this girl in a red dress and he has her on his mind. I wanted to see the sparkle in his eyes at the memory of her.”

That same twinkle was in Anitha’s eyes during the competition; she was so happy to be representing her country and it showed in her concentration and determination. Also in the way she worked with her model.

“It was important to me that he felt comfortable and to ask him, ‘Are you ok, is there anything you want?’” Anitha said. “My model had modeled before but when someone has not modeled before it is important for us to make them comfortable because you can see it in the photos. “

Her model’s hair was left a little loose on top. “It’s not straight up and all sleek but more natural.”

And ready for that lady in red.

 HAIR STORY:

My career as a stylist started in May 2011; currently I work at the Art of Hair in Svendborg, where I was first a client before becoming a stylist. I trained with the American Crew Menswork™ Methods 1 & 2, and have been a junior stylist for three years. Next year I will take my final exam to move to the next level and hope to continue to grow as a professional. I’ve learned a lot from being part of a great team.

 GROOMING MUST-HAVE:

I love American Crew Alternator; I use it every day on my clients to give them masculine texture, and most importantly to give them control of their style.

 FAVORITE MALE CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLE:

Johnny Depp for a current celebrity and James Dean for a classic celebrity look.

 AMERICAN CREW & MEN’S GROOMING?

American Crew opened up a whole new world for me. I received so much inspiration from all of the method courses. American Crew gives me the best products and training so that I can give my clients the absolute best in their haircut and for their everyday style. My clients know that because of my training with American Crew, I cut hair differently than my colleagues, and they come back to me specifically for that reason.

WHAT DOES THE AMERICAN CREW ALL-STAR CHALLENGE MEAN TO YOU?

Going to the American Crew All-Star Challenge as a country winner is a huge accomplishment in my career. I entered the competition because I could not miss the chance to show my ideal of the perfect American Crew man. I wanted to challenge myself.
