Beyond Aesthetics debuted August 11-13 at the San Diego Convention Center and featured three days of advanced skin care and spa education, wellness and exercise classes to start each day and an intimate setting affording meaningful networking opportunities.

Produced by industry veteran Magda Fichter and a strong support team, Beyond Esthetics was held in the canopied, airy Sails Pavilion of the Convention Center which was a perfect setting for a show focused on health and well-being.

The show exhibitors demonstrated the lastest in spa equipment, in software, in makeup brushes and tools, and innovations in skin care.  Other emerging trends or news included:

Lash lust=lash must.  Salons and spas have their eye on the business of lash extensions, lash applications and lash treatments and many companies at Beyond Estethics were all eyes including Longmi Lashes by Daniel.  Daniel Dinh, developler and lash artist, says he "came to this world to do lashes." www.longmilashes.com

Skin Care Among the lines showing new products, Dermalogica launched Sheer Tint and Cover Tint, both with SPF20, two levels of coverage in three shades.  Sheer Tint evens skin tone, hydrates, and features Hydrolyzed Pearl Powder to help reduce the appearance of fine lines.  Cover Tint allows for buildable coverage, applies smoothly and evenly, and light-diffusing agents combine with natural mineral color pigments to balance skin tone.  www.dermalogica.com

Taking it off continues to take off. Lori Nestore from Eva's Esthetics, skin care and wax, was fronting her booth, one of many hair removal brands present at the show. Nestore is known for her no-nonsense wax education, addressing "how to remove hair from every crevice on any gender, efficiently, gently, professionally."  www.evasesthetics.com

Spongelle is easy sell.   One of the vendors that offered spas and salons something unique for their retail center was Spongelle. Their body wash-infused buffers and sponges contain wonderful fragrances suspended in a moisturizing gel.  Their collection includes scents like Asian Spice Pomegranate and Peony Cassis Infusion, and a variety of textures for exfoliating and luxuriating.  www.spongelle.com
