The Makeup Show LA: Inspiration, Education and Community(photo credit: Brandon Showers)

The Makeup Show LA launched with an evening event in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, March 16.  In attendance were makeup artists, cosmetic industry professionals, media and models all coming together to support the two-day show which continued on Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18 at the California Market Center.   At the opening party, participating brands were challenged to create a make-up design inspired by Los Angeles with a theme, "This Town Is Our Town."

  • David Klasfeld, CEO and Creative Director of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, explains his inspiration behind his sexy, suntanned and oh-so-LA look. Model: David Ryan
  • Then, we challenged two industry heavy-hitters--James Vincent, the Makeup Show’s Director of Artistry, and Sharon “Mama Makeup” Gault-- to pare down their makeup must-haves to a few items by asking, “What would you need if stranded on a desert island?”.
  • And Elessa Jade, blogger (Purse Buzz) and designer, interviews Yume Ninja (ninjasovereign.com) on Yume's hair color how-to.

The Makeup Show LA featured over 60 top beauty brands including: Make Up For Ever, Crown Brush, Temptu Pro, INGLOT, Make-Up Designory, Smashbox, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, The Powder Group and On Makeup Magazine, Alcone, Senna, Muse Beauty PRO, Embryolisse USA, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Kissable Couture, Kevyn Aucoin, Red Carpet Kolour, Stila Cosmetics, and South Seas Skincare.
