Waves were all the rage at this year's Emmy Awards. Although ratings were the lowest in history, the show was worth watching for the beautiful hairstyles we saw on the red carpet. According to Michael Shaun Corby Global Creative Director for Alterna Professional Haircare, "we are seeing celebrities and stylists moving away from angular, sleek cuts and styles. They are moving towards more of an organic, windswept natural look." We saw this on the New York runways and at the Emmy's this past weekend. "There is nothing more feminine than a side parted style with cascading waves or waves pinned back into a soft modern up-style," says Corby. "The look is uncontrived and ultra glamorous."

Emmy Beauty
Brooke Shields is gorgeous. Wearing long classic waves enhanced her feminine glamour with just the right amount of volume.

Emmy Beauty
Ugly Betty's America Ferrera paid homage to Rita Hayworth with her 1940's inspired, sophisticated waves.

Emmy Beauty
Lauren Conrad part of The Hill's wore a perfectly messy up-style that was a mix of boho and glamour. The braid detail (a definite rising trend) and soft waves added a youthful touch.
