THE EVENT: Goldwell Trend Zoom workshop for Panico Salons and Spas at DePasquale Salon Systems in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
THE DETAILS: Goldwell educators Derrick Zeno and Amedeo DeRango led the Trend Zoom Color Challenge seminar. Fifty key artists from the Panico Salon and Spa group in New Jersey recreated the looks from the 2009 Trend Zoom Futuretec worlds of Virtualist and Ecopolitan.
ADVANCED EDUCATION: “We offer some of the best education I have ever seen offered to a salon staff,” says Jack Panico, owner of the three Panico Salons and Spas in northern New Jersey. “Programs like this Goldwell training is what differentiates our stylists from others. We give our hairdressers such a strong fighting chance to be successful. Our trainers and artistic teams are top of the line.” Panico is adamant about his staff working to become educators themselves. “Once you can teach something, you own your skills,” he says. “Doing something is one thing, but to be able to break it down and teach it means your confidence and communication is so much more powerful. I don’t expect everyone on staff to become an educator, but having that skill just makes one a better artist.”
PANICO STYLE: Of the 200 Panico hairdressers, 15 are educators. In addition to regular workshops like the Goldwell training held at DePasquale, there are weekly training sessions and in-house manuals, guides and business plans and there are four main Panico educators. “It is because of our advanced training that Angelo Pacente and Daniela Zlatanovska were finalists in last year’s Goldwell Trend Zoom. These people are beyond great artists.”
