Holly Robinson Peete, actress, author, activist and philanthropist, has been selected by the Professional Beauty Association to receive the 2010 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award. She will be presented with the honor at the North American Hairstyling Awards on July 18 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas during Cosmoprof North America and PBA Beauty Week.

PBA established the Beautiful Humanitarian Award to recognize a public figure who is an example of both outer and inner beauty. The award exemplifies the concept that beauty is more than skin deep and, although the industry’s mission is to make people look and feel their best, participation in community and charitable endeavors carries its own sense of beauty.

Robinson Peete is the founder of the HollyRod Foundation helping people cope with devastating life circumstances. She is a committed advocate for education, and for families dealing with autism and Parkinson’s disease. She is a spokes person for the charitable efforts of several companies including Target, Sketchers and Toys R’ Us. She is a Board of Overseer’s member at the Keck School of Medicine at the University Southern California, and a trustee of the greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.
