The Vogue Italia cover from June 1990, featuring Linda Evangelista, was the inspiration for these hair styles from Oribe Member Salons. The winner was the one in the middle of the top row, from Krystal Dees of Goldwaves Salon in Fort Worth, Texas. Other styles (top row right): created by Susan Ulatoski of Salon Tivoli in Livermore, California; (bottom row, left) created by Sandy Elma of Spalon Montage in Minneapolis; (bottom row, center) created by Lisa Nguyen of Umbrella Salon in San Jose, California; (bottom row, right) created by the team at José Luis Salon in Austin, Texas.

Recently, Oribe Member Salons were invited to compete by creating their best renditions of the Vogue Italia June 1990 cover featuring Linda Evangelista, created by Oribe. These tributes were taken from the In-Salon Cover Class Series hosted by the Oribe product line. The class consists of a demonstration by an Oribe educator, hands-on styling on models and an editorial style photo shoot.

“The point of the class was not to copy the image, but to have stylists put their personal take on it,” says Oribe.
Each interpretation was uploaded to a site where Oribe Member Salons could vote for their favorite. More than 160 entered and several thousand voted. Krystal Dees of Goldwaves Salon in Fort Worth, Texas, was the winner.
