Sport Clips Haircuts has been ranked in the Top 100 of Entrepreneur magazine’s “fastest-growing” companies for the past 12 years, and this year, for the first time, in the top 10 among the media entity’s Franchise 500 ranking.

An article in the February issue entitled “Rocket-fueled Growth” says, “These franchises are adding units at light speed.” It ranks Sport Clips Haircuts number 10, just behind McDonald’s. This is the tenth consecutive year for the franchise to rank among the “fastest-growing,” which is based on the increase in the number of open and operating franchise units. During the calendar year 2014, Sport Clips opened 167 locations and now has more than 1,300 open in the U.S. and Canada.

“While we are proud to be listed as one of the fastest growing franchises, we are even more proud of the fact that very few Sport Clips locations close…in the past four years we have opened over 550 locations and only four have closed. Of the first 100 Sport Clips opened starting in 1995, 92 are still open and operating,” says Gordon Logan, founder and CEO of Sport Clips. “As Sport Clips continues to be an outstanding investment choice, we also continue to be very selective of who we accept as franchisees and the real estate we approve for new locations. We currently open an average of about 3 stores a week, a pace with which we are comfortable given available real estate opportunities.”

Sport Clips recently announced a three-way tie for its 1,300th store when locations opened on the same day in several East Coast markets. The franchise opened in Canada in 2013 and will open in its 50th U.S. state (Maine) in the next few months.
