Great Clips Aids Cosmetology Students with $1,000 Scholarships

This past month Great Clips, Inc. awarded 100 cosmetology students each a $1,000 scholarship as a part of the 2014 Great Clipper Event.

Great Clips franchisees went to local cosmetology schools across the United States and Canada to share advanced clipper cutting knowledge, to provide information about career opportunities with Great Clips, and to award gifts and prizes, including the recently-awarded scholarships.

More than 18,000 students at 1,000 schools participated in the turnkey program designed to build relationships between Great Clips franchisees and cosmetology schools. 

Joan Yourstone, Vice President of Career Services at Marinello Schools of Beauty, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thanks for the latest news regarding our eight scholarship winners from Marinello Schools of Beauty!  We feel very lucky to have multiple scholarships awarded to Marinello students, and appreciate the generosity of the Great Clips organization.  You have definitely changed these students’ lives!”

The scholarships were awarded by CEO of Great Clips Rhoda Olsen and Chairman of the Board Ray Barton through the GREAT Scholarship program in memory of their mother, Alice Madden Barton.

“Great Clips employs over 35,000 stylists in salons across North America and they were all students at one time,” said Olsen. “We’re proud to offer these scholarships to students who may one day become part of the incredibly talented team of Great Clips stylists.”
