The Official 2013 Miss USA CHI Styling Team created the looks for all contestants in the preliminary competition that aired live on MissUSA.com last night. Now the team gets ready for the big night, the 2013 Miss USA Competition this Sunday airing LIVE from Las Vegas at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
Tammy Mixon, Lead Stylist, says, “What I love most about being backstage is the excitement of creating everyone's look on a live show timeframe.” Mixon has styled looks for many of the past Miss USA and Universe titleholders including Miss Universe 2011, Leila Lopez.
“When we are behind the scenes it is a bit stressful – you can almost feel the butterflies and nerves that the girls are feeling, but it is our job to keep them calm and relaxed and remind them that they are ready for this,” says Anna Cantu, CHI Creative Artist.
“I used the CHI ARC at prelims and it is definitely my new go to curling tool for backstage! After styling so many girls, so quickly, for a long period of time we all experience some wrist pains and don’t have time to slow down. With the CHI ARC I can go much faster!” says Cantu.
“I always make sure her hair has lots of movement -- beautiful flowing hair looks so graceful when they walk out on the stage. And I always tell her to smile! Smiling is a sign of confidence and it looks very charming. The audience and judges love that – no one wants to watch someone who looks like they aren’t having fun up there,” says Rocky Vitelli, CHI Creative Artist.
Vitelli styled Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo for the CHI ARC commercial that is currently running on NBC. Albert Luiz, CHI Creative Artist, styled Miss Netherlands Universe 2012 Nathalie Den Dekker for the CHI G2 commercial that is also running on NBC. Both commercials will air during the live broadcast this Sunday offering multiple chances to win the new tools as a part of the Go Curly vs Go Straight campaign.
