Renee Shakour of Essential Salon Products recently welcomed US Senator Scott P. Brown (R) of Massachusetts to the distributorship. Shakour is a board member and government affairs advocate for the Professional Beauty Association.

Brown visited Essential Salon Products of Westborough, Massachusetts to discuss the importance of the beauty industry to the US economy and the need for tax reform for salon owners. Shakour took Sen. Brown on a tour of the distributor’s secondary warehouse and education facility to explain the numerous services that the distributorship provides to salons and spas throughout New England.

Sen. Brown met with Shakour’s staff, customers, and the local media to speak about the challenges facing business in the current economy. Shakour discussed the small business tax credit for which the professional salon industry has been advocating to members of Congress--the Small Business Tax Equalization and Compliance Act (S974/HR1957).

Shakour, as a member of PBA’s Government Affairs Committee, is dedicated to working with members of Congress to support fair small business legislation. Sen. Brown expressed his appreciation at learning more about the salon industry through observing the inner workings of an independent distributorship.

Jon Shakour joined Renee Shakour in relating the history behind Essential Salon Products and how the family business has continued to grow despite changes in the industry and the economy.

“It was a very exciting and interesting experience and we enjoyed sharing information about our business and how the Small Business Tax Equalization and Compliance Act will make a positive impact in our industry,’ says Renee Shakour. Visit essentialsalonproducts.com.
