Naturally Handsome: How-To with Technique, Tips and Tools

Marcus Williams, the Owner and Lead Stylist of Styles Inspired by MARC in Philadelphia, PA loves barbering and celebrates and shares his craft on social media.  We latched onto this image on INSTAGRAM and asked Marcus to provide us with his technique, tips and tools.

STEPS FROM MARC:

STEP ONE: To achieve this cut, I used my Wahl Sterling 4s with a one guard. I faded the sides and back up high.

STEP TWO: I razor cut the whole top to give it a lot of texture and flow.

STEP THREE: The transition area was connected with my shear-over-comb technique and some free hand clipper work.

STEP FOUR: The outline detail was done with my Wahl detailer and some free hand razor work. This just makes the whole look complete. I love simplistic, natural styles.

INISHING:

“I used some American Crew Light Hold Styling Gel as a blow dry agent and followed it up with a little bit of American Crew Forming Cream. Both of these products work great together for this style because it has a natural look with a natural hold. For added hold, I sometimes use Moroccan oil medium hold hairspray. This is an amazing hairspray and it's versatile.”
