Goldwell, KMS California and ARROJO joined forces for their Portfolio on Tour event in Chicago on Sept. 21, 2014.
The Sunday night show held in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare was a grand production showing off cut, color and style trends from the three brands and had no shortage of personalities: John Simpson, Dimitrios Tsioumas and Patrick McIvor from Goldwell; Sonna Brado and Simon Miller from KMS California; and Nick Arrojo, of course.
Goldwell was up first and showed off a range of bright and bold colors; transformative color and color that can look different according to how hair is styled seems to be taking off for fall/winter.
Other trends shared included:
-Symmetry (in cut): Can wear hair to one side or the other, and it changes where color lies. Makes easy and flexible styling.
-Exposed ears: Utilizes disconnection in the cut, tucking behind ears, etc.
-Peachy/salmon tones
Goldwell also touched on its Kerasilk smoothing treatment, which is a service that, notably, can be done in the same day as color and style for hair. Clients also don't have to avoid putting their hair behind their ears or in ponytails.
The presentation from self-made Arrojo included a variety of bold and subtle Goldwell color. There is more and more incorporation of "fantasy colors" (green, blue, purple, etc.) in styles, even if it's just a pop or a peekaboo.
American Wave, the permanent curling service from ARROJO, continues to be iconic in ARROJO styles.
NEW from KMS California is its Curl Up line and specifically a leave-in conditioner and a perfecting lotion.
The cut-and-style-focused sibling of color powerhouse Goldwell produced a packed segment of bold haircolors, cuts and styles with a tremendous amount of personality. The stylists cut and styled on stage, kept energy high in the room and cited inspiration from Disney princesses and villains to Scarlett O'Hara.
