Beauty Services and Retail Show Growth

Overall revenues for all salon industry services (hair, skin, nails) plus salon retail grew 3.2%, according to the 2015 Professional Salon Industry Hair Care Study from Professional Consultants & Resources, a salon industry strategic consultants and data source. Total U.S. salon services and salon retail sales grew by 3% to $60.27 billion. There were nearly 294,000 U.S. salons and barbershops using and selling salon haircare products. Salon count declined by 2.5%, as large rental suites opened.

Philip Ring (@phildoeshair), the Phoenix, Arizona based artist, has been dealing with hair color challenges throughout his professional career, but he now has a new, more personal challenge to deal with both in and out of the salon. Recently diagnosed with testicular cancer, Ring says he has become a cancer "warrior" and will use his journey to help other victims.

Announcing the 2016 Salons of the Year Finalists

Salon Today is pleased to announce the 20 finalists for the 2016 Salons of the Year. All 20 finalists will be profiled in the June issue of Salon Today. The winner of the competition will be announced live at the Premiere Orlando Beauty Event in Orlando, Florida, on June 4, 2016. At the event, the cover of the June issue, which will feature the winning salon, will be revealed.

Beauty Pitch 2016: New Partners, Judges, and Deadline Extended to May 10

Support continues to grow for Beauty Pitch 2016, a live competition where beauty entrepreneurs pitch their products to a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges. Held Saturday, July 23, Beauty Pitch 2016 is part of INSPIRE: A Night Celebrating Beauty Entrepreneurs, which kicks off the Professional Beauty Association’s (PBA) Beauty Week and Cosmoprof North America’s (CPNA) exhibition.

LA Stylists Introduced to Organic Hair Color and Products from Oway
