The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) has announced the 200 future beauty professionals chosen to attend Beacon 2011. These 200 students were selected based on the creativity, presentation and content of their resume, professional portfolio and creative marketing pieces. 100 students will attend Beacon as the 2011 winners while the other 100 students will attend as honorable mentions. All of the applications were judged by PBA members. Meet these exceptional students and see their projects displayed at PBA Beauty Week in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 30 - August 2, 2011.

Held annually in conjunction with PBA Symposium and designed to educate students on the various components needed to manage a successful career, Beacon takes students behind the business side of the industry and provides valuable insight on marketing, business operations, networking and leadership training. Beacon truly helps students recognize that they are not just choosing a job, but rather a lifetime profession.

Beacon winners receive free tuition to attend PBA Symposium which includes various educational sessions and workshops in addition to special Beacon-only breakouts, exposing students to business concepts and strategies implemented in salons nationwide to grow their businesses. Beacon honorable mentions will have the exact same experience, only investing a small tuition payment of $189.

This year, as part of Beacon and PBA Symposium, students will have the opportunity to network with top hair stylists, members of the media and top beauty executives including: Alison Shipley, Charles Marcus, James Morrison, and Vivienne Mackinder. Additional speakers include PBA Symposium keynote speaker, Stedman Graham, CEO of educational marketing and consulting firm S. Graham & Associates, Harry Wood, lead educator and for Van Michael Salons, and Kristi Valenzuela, founder of Crystal Focus Salon Coaching. Students will also attend business forums and a Beacon alumni panel with Q&A.

Students can also take advantage of the Beacon Career Center and enjoy a guided tour through the Cosmoprof North America trade show floor to meet beauty business leaders and learn the role global distributors and manufacturers play in the industry. Past attendees have described this weekend of inspiration as a "once in a lifetime" opportunity.
