Throughout this special holiday planning issue, you will find tips, techniques and ideas on how to grow business across all your salon service and retail categories. Here, we shine a spotlight on key trends and need-to-know numbers and stats. All are intended to help you and your team ramp up enthusiasm and strategies for your most successful holiday season ever!
COLOR INNOVATION
The hottest story in hair color this year is all about bonding—and CosmoProf offers the industry-leading, pioneer product Olaplex. Are you and your team up to date on how to use, prescribe, price and consult with clients on this color prep add-on that helps protect hair integrity, improve color results and drive client satisfaction? Talk to your consultant or visit cosmoprofbeauty.com for details. See the HOLIDAY COLOR section in this issue for more info.
CONNECT WITH CLIENTS
When planning your marketing and promo-tions, be mindful of all your client “types” and targets, and how you can reach them. One size does not fit all. In addition to social media (see above), consider events like a Holi-day Open House or season kick-off. Leverage your email list and use the increased traffic in the salon to update it. Add holiday messaging to your website. Consider direct mail (a thank you to best customers, perhaps, with special offer) and creating special handouts your team can distribute to encourage referrals, walk-ins, gift certificate sales and gifting of limited edition beauty products and tools.
SOCIAL STRATEGIES
Your clients are on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and more—are you? Do you have a plan to integrate those platforms into your holiday promos and marketing? Social media continues to be a critical driver to build awareness. Take advantage of special social media ads or content that CosmoProf and your favorite brands have to offer. While you’re brainstorming, be sure you are current and following CosmoProf and MODERN SALON on all the social platforms (great resources for info and ideas you can borrow). Also, it may be a little early to incorporate into this year’s holiday promotions, but a new social platform you should definitely explore for education and future opportunities is Periscope. MODERN SALON editors are raving about salon community engagement and predict opportunities will grow rapidly.
LOOK INTO LOXA
Loxa is another professional resource to help make retailing easier during the hectic holi-day season. If you can’t carry a full inventory of every line you’d like to offer, or if you’re afraid clients will shop elsewhere or prefer online convenience, LoxaBeauty.com may be the answer for you and those customers. Sign up as a Loxa Pro (it’s free and easy), and you can save time and money while making a commission on every sale, with thousands of products in your inventory.
FOLLOW UP WITH BEAUTY SPAN
You’re smart to “browse, brainstorm and buy” with this special issue of MODERN SALON Holiday and the CosmoProf Pre-Sell 2015 Guide, but you can keep the momentum going for your salon and team by checking out even more seasonal service tips and retailing reminders in the upcoming November/December issue of Beauty Span.
