To some extent, Sebastian Professional Educator Katey-Bug Browne was genetically wired to one day dominate hair competitions left and right.

Her mother is a Wella educator and owner of Oasis Hair Salon, and Browne first started working in her mother’s salon at 11. She wasted no time getting down to business after graduating high school; she nabbed Marylle Koken of Los Angeles’ The Harlot salon as her mentor her first year of school at The Sassoon Academy and promptly entered and won competitions in quick succession.

“Something that I have learned about this industry so far is that opportunities are there,” Browne says. “It is up to us to take them.”

Take a look at what opportunities Browne has taken in the industry.
