Stephany Huizing-Smith (@stephygnarstagram), Creative director and Senior stylist at Parlour e.lev.en (@parlour.eleven), Huntington Beach, CA, shares details on this lovely makeover we found on Instagram:
A friend of mine from a couple years ago, also a stylist, reached out to me wanting a color change. This is huge for her because she has always been platinum blonde (since I've known her). She sent me a couple photos with level/tone ideas, but for the most part, gave me creative freedom on how I wanted to execute the final product.
Jenna Faicco of Salon Brielle (@ SalonBrielle) in Holbrook, NY, says that "Hair painting and balayage has brought my color game to an exciting new level." She is clearly doing something right! We found this makeover on her Instagram page (@FaiccoJ) and asked for more details. Here she shares:
"This client had a grown out ombre and had not had her hair highlighted in more than one year," says Eva Scrivo (@evascrivosalons), owner of the Eva Scrivo Salons in NYC. "Living in California allowed her to maintain her light blonde ends through sun exposure, which softened her natural level 5 base.
Stevie Vincent of Stevie Vincent Hair Artistry, color educator and unicorn tribe member from Perth, Western Australia, says, "I've been in the industry for 8 years and have found my niche in vibrant colors and deriving inspiration from anything and everything around me."
Here Vincent shares the details for this makeover:
Hair history: Client has naturally a level 7 base, two inches of regrowth and level 9 ends with residual opal tones from her last color - a steel grey with a blend of pastel smokey neons throughout.

Shay Cottle (@hair_by_shayc) of Mandie Sue on Fifth Salon, American Fork, Utah, specializes in balayage and bridal hair. Says Cottle, "This color correction was a perfect example of why it is important to be educated, especially in balayage. This client came in desperate after having a bad experience. She wanted a balayage ombre look, but was left with uneven coloring, banding and lines."
Here, Cottle shares how she corrected this color design, leaving the client with a fresh and modern sombre.
