The Redken Exchange on Fifth Avenue in New York has set a high standard for pro beauty training with a wealth of offerings, from must-have cut/color/style knowledge, to business and career education, to classes that help artists perfect their craft.

Learn to Create the Most Flattering Shapes for Your Client's Face with Sam Villa and Justin Isaac

This educational hub continues to teach, guide and mold thousands of stylists every year. When the pandemic hit, the Redken team was poised to pivot, as they were already streaming some of their live content to a virtual audience. A series of upcoming digital education events and digital hands-on classes will bring you the principle-based education you’d experience at the award-winning Redken Exchange. One of these is a May 24 class with master educators and Redken Ambassadors Sam Villa and Justin Isaac called Face the Shape with Suitability.

UNLIMITED POTENTIAL

Following the Redken Stylist career path, a salon stylist can take their career to the next level.

“In 2020, we had our full calendar lined up and then six days prior to a cutting class with Sam Villa and Chris Baran in March, we had to close down," says Suzanne Sturm, VP of Redken Education US. "But we were already planning to stream the class  and were already making that shift to hybrid, so we went full time virtual.”

Since then, all Redken education has been virtual.  “For the first six months, we did three ‘Look and Learn,' 3-hour classes. And we launched hands-on programs, virtually. This was all free education to help everyone stay inspired and connected.”

Sturm says that everything being taught is about helping stylists be more successful in their career and their life. "We want to help them learn better, earn better, and live best. We are simplifying techniques to make them faster, and we are helping them service every client very well and to do it quickly.”

June 21 will be a session with celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham, as part of their Monday 90 minute series with icons and influencers. "Tracey will talk all about blondes. She is so engaging and fun, and she'll share some of her favorite formulas used on her celeb clients. It will be very interactive.”

And what’s in the near future? “Along with our virtual classes, we realized that we would be able to come back to the Rekden Exchange for in-person. In August, if all goes well, we will offer a hybrid format, where 15 students can attend in person, while others may join virtually. These will be two-to-three day seminars.  The onstage facilitators will be streamed, and when attendees go to breakout rooms, there will be personal coaches waiting for them in both the in-person format and the virtual.”
