Now in its eight season, NAILS Magazine’s Next Top Nail Artist (NTNA) is the premiere competition within the professional nail industry. This year, NAILS is delighted to be partnering with CND to bring this challenge to life.
Contestants who enter NTNA undergo a rigorous screening process where every brush stroke is scrutinized. After carefully evaluating hundreds of intricate hand-painted looks, sculpted acrylics, brushed on gels, and an array of mixed-media.
The finalists are competing against each other through a series of design challenges, and Challenge #7 is in and ready for viewing and voting!
Here is the challenge issued to the finalists:
CND’s PlexiGel is the brand’s newest nail innovation. This brush-in-a-bottle nail enhancement system provides up to three weeks of strength, length, and shape. To celebrate the beauty of PlexiGel we ask that contestants create 3-D nail art that’s crystal clear, strong, and brilliant…just like a chandelier. For this challenge you will use PlexiGel ONLY to create chandelier-looking nails that will be worn on both hands (can they use tips?). No color is to be added to these nails so that the clarity of PlexiGel can shine through. Contestants are allowed to add embellishment to these nails using crystals, glitter, foil, beads, and any jewelry-making materials needed (such as jump hooks). You must photograph your chandelier nails on two actual hands (they can be your own or on a model) against a white background. You must also create a 5-7 minute video diary detailing your inspiration and how you brought this vision to life.
