Twylla Jane (@twyllajane), Sam Villa Ambassador and owner of Lumos Nox Salon is one savvy educator. She offers special 1 hour back to school styling sessions where students bring their tools and products. She and her team teach them how to use what they already own, while also making recommendations for upgrades.

“Kids are getting so many cool ideas from TikTok, but some need a little extra hands-on learning about which products and hot tools to use to achieve looks correctly,” Jane says. “Blow-dry hot brushes are huge on TikTok, so I love showing them how to use the Sam Villa Pro Results 3-in-1 Blow Dry Hot Brush as just a hot brush to smooth and flip the ends of their hair to mimic 90s blowouts.” She always has butterfly clips, spiral gems and hair ties on hand to play with. “We’re back full throttle with hot tool styling for teenagers and young adults, especially,” she adds.

If you have young clients who are looking to rock the trendy hairstyles this back to school season, here’s how Jane achieves the ever-popular space buns look.

How to Get the Look:

1. Prep hair with Redken Full Frame 07 at the root and Big Blowout through the ends and use the Sam Villa Blow Dry Hot Brush to create a full bouncy blowout.

2. Curl set with the Sam Villa Signature Series Professional Curling Iron 1” by wrapping 1.5” sections or hair around the closed barrel.

3. Section hair into four quadrants and 1” sections framing the face. Twist and pin each quadrant towards the left and right center backs to mimic a “space bun” directing the curled ends towards the face. Take the 1” sections around the face frame and direct down and back under the space buns to accentuate eyes and cheek bones.

4. Finish with Redken Fashion Work 12.

“This look is a combination of space buns with a little Spice Girls kick.  You could amp up this style with some butterfly clips or big barrettes to give it even more flair and 90s callback,” Jane adds.
