The press turned out in full last night to visit the new flagship essie salon, located within the freshly remodeled Samuel Shriqui Salon on East 65th Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

The space, designed by architect Peter Millard, features a recessed white wall which dramatically displays every single essie shade...that's 250! Clients look at these shades from love seats matched to different classic essie shades including Bahama Mama, Coral Reef, Raisinnuts, Big Spender and Status Symbol.

In this video, Essie introduces us to Josephine Allen, her manicurist of 25 years. Josephine has been the lead manicurist at the salon and will now head the new essie space.

"I feel like I'm 'Queen for a Day' everytime I come here," says Essie about the Samuel Shriqui Salon which she has been visiting weekly for the past 25 years. "Josephine is the ultimate professional. She can get everything done in less than 45 minutes, including doing your nails while your hair is blown out."

What are the challenges working with Essie? Says Josephine, "We talk about colors and techniques, but she allows me to select shape and sometimes the colors."

"She does amazing combos," says Essie. "I just let her do whatever she wants. It's a wonderful relationship."
