At Glenn Michael Salon in Metairie, LA, salon owner and stylist Glenn Milliet says they have offered hair extensions for some time now, but they never had a solution for clients who had thinning hair throughout the crown and the top portions of the head. It wasn’t until he witnessed an Evolve Volumizer presentation at a recent Intercoiffure show that he found a thinning hair system with limitless opportunities.

“Up until the Evolve Volumizer there were a lot of limitations with what we could do with clients who have thinning hair. Now, with Evolve, clients who are losing their hair from stress, chemotherapy, hormones or other reasons have a new hair thickening option that’s neither chemical, a wig nor a hair transplant—it’s a lightweight, integrated mesh system that uses 100 percent human hair,” says Milliet. “The system integrates the client’s own hair by pulling it through the silicone base, so the result looks totally natural.”

Glenn says the Evolve hair thinning system has been an ‘Emotional Cash Register.’ “Ever since incorporating Evolve into our salon, we have had a whole new category of clients come through out doors. After they get the service I see a return of self image; I love that it turns self consciousness into self-esteem.”

The Evolve Volumizer comes in a variety of colors, textures and densities, providing optimal blending, which leaves the piece undetectable. The Volumizer can be worn in conjunction with extensions to create volume in the crown, or in place of extensions for a slightly shorter, but fuller appearance.

Interested in doing this service at your salon? Here's the process Evolve-certified stylists do for a consultation AND installation.

CONSULTATION:

Informal Consultation:

Review condition of natural hair.

Review previous chemical use.

What does client like and dislike about their hair?

How long is hair at the crown?

Medical concerns

Formal Consultation:

Review physical, emotional and financial questions.

Customize the correct Volumizer using the Evolve portfolio for style choice and the adaptability ring for the physical characteristics desired. (Texture, length, density and color).

INSTALLATION STEPS:

Overview: The Evolve Volumizer has six rows and 38 fixing points, of which 20 are used to initially anchor the Volumizer in place on the interior. The other 18 fixing points are to secure the system along the perimeter. Depending on the size of the head, density of the clients own hair, and desired style, it is optional how many points you may need to use.

Installation:

STEP 1: Take the front of the Volumizer and with the two center fixing points, place at the center front and begin on the underside.

STEP 2: Using the Evolve Connection VL tool, secure the hair through the fixing point into the connection point.

STEP 3: Use the Transformer tool to close the Connection Point.

STEP 4: After connecting the front two points, roll the Volumizer down to the next row and secure the fixing points. Repeat steps for rows 2-6, always starting with the two fixing points in the center of the Volumizer.

STEP 5: You may integrate the clients own hair through the base as you go, or in some cases wait until the system is attached in the interior and then integrate.

STEP 6: Then secure the perimeter of the Volumizer by using the fixing points on the edge.

STEP 7: Start at the top and go down through the fixing point, so that the edge of the Volumizer is close to the head. Repeat approximately every two inches.

STEP 8: For the front, bang or part area, use a reverse integration technique.
