Rodney Cutler (for Ulta and Redken), leads about 30 shows each season during New York Fashion Week. He was all prepared for his first show, the Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013 Collection, presented at the Mercedes Benz tent in Lincoln Center.

"It's all about shape," he told me as he was putting the finishing touches on a model. "It's important for all hairdressers to learn how to do this. If done properly, it can have a strong effect. It must sit low in the nape and hug the ear."

I grabbed him for a few more minutes for this interview. Check out the very cool, calm and collected Rodney as he gives an overview of the look.
