MODERN Facebook fan Kate Spoleti, a stylist at Salon Sovay in Austin, Texas, loves a before-and-after. To take someone's look from a grown-out, undone look to a sleek style with shape--all from using your shears and imagination--is so exciting... especially when you take photos! Here, she shows off some of her favorite work.
"To really clean her hair up, I did a slight triangular one-length in the back," Spoleti says. "Then, I did square convex layers in the back, and eased my way into triangular layers in the front."
Next, Spoleti used the scissor-over-comb technique underneath the sides.
"It helped the hair lay a lot smoother and gave me that disconnect between the sideburn area and the back panel of the end," she says.
"For the fringe, I did a straight-across bang and point-cut it slightly.
For styling? She round brushed it first, adding volume at the crown, and directed the fringe forward. Then, she used a spray wax to piece it out at the ends and give it a more textured look.
"She absolutely loved the results! Hope you do too!" she says.
